Where are you located?
LaPlaya is located on Longboat Key, a barrier island just off the coast of Sarasota. Our small beachfront condominium complex sits in the middle of the island.
What is the closest airport?
The closest airport is Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), approximately 14 miles away.
Other options include Tampa International Airport (TPA) and St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport (PIE).
Do I have to cross the street to get to the beach?
No. LaPlaya is directly on the beach.
Do all units have a water view?
Not all units have a water view, but all are just a few steps from the beach. Please refer to the Units Map for exact locations.
Is LaPlaya a resort or hotel?
LaPlaya is a condominium. Each unit is individually owned and furnished, and rented when the owners are not using it.
We do not offer hotel-style services such as daily housekeeping or concierge.
Are all the units the same?
No. Each unit reflects the individual owner’s style and preferences, but all units are fully furnished and equipped.
Is there an elevator?
There is no elevator on the property. All units require the use of stairs.
Can someone help carry luggage or groceries?
We do not have staff available to assist with luggage or groceries.
Do I need a car or can I walk everywhere?
We recommend having a car. While some locations are within walking distance, most guests find a car more convenient.
How far are the restaurants from LaPlaya?
The closest restaurants are at the Center Shops, located approximately one mile north of LaPlaya.
Where is the closest grocery store?
Publix Supermarket is located approximately 1.5 miles south of LaPlaya.
Is there public transportation on Longboat Key?
Yes, Longboat Key offers an on-demand public transportation service.
Is it safe to bike on Longboat Key?
Yes, biking on Longboat Key is generally safe and enjoyable, as long as you follow the rules of the road.
Stay & Property Policies
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is after 4:00 PM.
Check-out is at 10:00 AM.
Can I arrive early or check out late?
Due to cleaning schedules, early check-in and late check-out are generally not available.
Is there parking?
Yes.
- 2-bedroom units: 1 parking space
- 3-bedroom units: 2 parking spaces
There is no additional or overflow parking available on the property.
Can I bring more than one vehicle?
Parking is limited to the number of spaces assigned to your unit.
Is smoking allowed?
LaPlaya is a non-smoking property, including the parking areas and grounds.
Are pets allowed?
No, pets are not permitted.
Are beach chairs provided?
Yes, chaise lounges are available on the beach on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please do not reserve chairs when not in use.
Is there a pool at LaPlaya?
Yes, we have a heated pool set to approximately 86°F. The pool is not beachfront.
Can I switch units if I don’t like the décor?
No. Each unit is individually owned, and switching units is not possible.
During Your Stay
When is the maid service?
We do not provide daily maid service. However, additional cleaning can be arranged for a fee.
What should we do with dirty towels?
Each unit has a full-size washer and dryer. Guests are expected to do their own laundry during their stay.
Additional cleaning service can be arranged if needed.
Can I schedule cleaning during my stay?
Yes, additional cleaning can be arranged for an extra charge.
Can I receive food deliveries?
Yes. Please make sure your delivery includes your unit number so it can be delivered correctly.
I have mail to send—what should I do?
You can visit the post office on the island or use the mailbox located at the entrance to LaPlaya (raise the flag for outgoing mail).
I saw a snake—what should I do?
Wildlife is common in Florida. If you are comfortable, you may observe from a safe distance. If not, simply move away.
We do not remove or harm wildlife on the property.
Are there quiet hours?
Yes. We ask all guests to be respectful of others, especially during evening and early morning hours.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes, all units are equipped with Wi-Fi. Details are provided inside the unit.
